Welcome to MXED GREENS' 2023 Medicine Making 101 Workshop Series!

Last year, we hosted a medicine making crash course at Just Roots called "Never Too Many Mason Jars," and this year we've expanded the idea to create a full workshop series to learn practical herbalism skills.

Throughout 2023, you'll get to dive in to a different herbal medicine preparation with us. All materials are provided, and you'll get to take home the medicine you make each time. At the start of each month, we'll announce the date and open registration for that month's workshop. All experience levels welcome, no need to have attended the previous month's 101 workshops to attend!

Class #5: Oxymels and Honeys

Date: Thursday August 17th

Time: 6-7:30pm

Cost: $10-$30 sliding scale materials fee (please review our sliding scale page for where to pay)

What you'll learn:

> How to extract fresh and dried plants in honey and apple cider vinegar (ACV)

> Understand the process from harvest to final straining/pressing of making oxymels (aka shrubs), herbal honeys, and ACV extractions like fire cider

> How to calculate the appropriate ratios of the herbs and the extract menstruum

> Easy recipes for using your oxymels and honeys in cooking and baking “food as medicine” preparations, and in herbal cocktails or mocktails

> Tips for avoiding mold/spoilage, as well as troubleshooting

> for this class, please bring 1-3 of your own small jars with well-fitting lids if you have them!
