Hand drawn transparency by Rachel of Tropical Goth Prints, silkscreen printed by her in Mexico City on Gildan 100% cotton t-shirts.
On her inspiration for the 8 of Shells tarot card design:
"This indicates changes in affections and the breaking of irrelevant links with the past- a turning away from existing relationships and objects of affection with the intent of progressing to that which is new and deeper in meaning. A change or gaining of perspective, this can indicate disillusion with the present, inaugurating the growth of greater future contentment and depth. This card usually carries the meaning of disillusionment and abandonment of things which have not been emotionally fulfiling." I chose the horseshoe crabs because of a childhood memory of them on the beach. I use the pitcher plants found at Dante's Hell in the panhandle of Florida to symbolize being stuck. I placed the horseshoe crabs to be swimming away from the pitcher plants and shells; releasing itself from past associations, patterns, and relationships.
