Bo Tree Essence
The Bo Tree is a type of banyan. This one grows at the edge of the bay, and has weathered hurricanes and summer heat. When the wind blows the leaves on long petioles shake and clatter with a sound akin to aspens and poplars. You can hear so many voices in the tree. Stories that come and go as the air stirs. The many trunks made of aerial roots support branches and places to sit between. This tree was home to an art project in which people wrote their dreams and prayers on fabric and attached them to lines strung up between the branches. The writings ranged from prayers for family and for justice and reparations to calls for the wall between mexico and the southern us to be built.
Such many disparate dreams, many of which I frowned at, but the tree held them all. Held them without judgement or shame, just letting the wind blow through. The Bo Tree holds space, secure enough in their roots to witness all these hopes and struggles and not break. This essence is for embodying empathy without attachment. For those who do deep interpersonal work such as therapists, healthcare professionals and healers, for creating container for story, for listening and releasing, for finding peace and patience in the process.
