Fri March 24th 6-8pm
at Sulis Studio, Brushworks Florence Arts and Industry Building (221 Pine Street, Florence MA)
Studio #253, second floor
*sold out! email us to be on waitlist if there's any cancellations*
In 2023 we're shifting the focus of our in-person botanical dye workshops to be less jam-packed with technical info drops, and more about slowing down and dropping in to the ritual practice of dyeing with whole fresh or dried plants. We'll still share about the chemistry that gets natural colors to stick to fabrics, but we'll also spend more time exploring the history and ecosystems of bioregional dye plants, allowing space for reflections and stories from workshop participants as we collectively build our relationships with these plants and the beauty of color and transformation.
What we'll cover:
- fabric options + mordants
- local plants that can be used for dyeing
- dye techniques of bundle dyeing and eco printing
- plant dye modifiers
Materials provided:
- 1 silk bandana / scarf for you to dye
- dye plants + all supplies for bundle dyeing
- handout with information from the workshop so you can continue experimenting with natural dyes at home! (you can definitely bring your own notebook to write down info too)
Cost: $25-50 Sliding Scale
Not sure where to pay on the scale? Review our sliding scale system here.
