The 3rd class in a 5-part workshop series collaboration between MXED GREENS and Foxtrot Farm

In Sensing the Seasons, we'll explore Touch, Taste, Smell, Sight, and Hearing one by one where we immerse ourselves in the somatic + sensory experiences of the season. Each class will include learning about medicinal + edible plants, hands-on practice to make medicine/food/art with these plants, and time to connect with the land and each other. These classes are appropriate for those of you who are new to this experiences, and for those of you who have more herbal/plant experience and want to depend these relationships <3

You can attend just one class of the series, or be part of all of them!

Workshop #3: Taste

In the third installment of our Sensing the Seasons series, we will explore the plant world through TASTE, starting with a luscious full plant immersion that will demonstrate how much we can discern about the function of a plant just through its flavors. Our bodies have innate knowledge about the plant world if we know how to tune in. Because we’ve evolved with plants for millennia, our bodies hold innate knowledge about what to eat, why, and when. With a little help from lessons passed down through cultural traditions and generational knowledge, we can often build a basic monograph about a plant without opening any books. We’ll lie in the shade, do a plant immersion, eat yummy treats (maypop soda, anyone??), and puzzle our way together.  This workshop is slightly geared towards beginners but we welcome all levels of herbalists! Because we're exploring taste, and bound to get hungry, we'll have some botanical snacks and refreshing spritzers for all.

Materials: All materials will be provided. Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on, a notebook, and a water bottle for hydration (there is a potable water spigot on site) - we will definitely be in the shade!

Event led by: Abby Ferla, assisted by Ced Clearwater and Devon & Tasha Greenwood
